About Kay

Inspired in the gardens of her mother and grandmother, Kay developed a love for flowers and gardens. Her informal introduction to floral and garden design began at a young age. She has also explored the use of color, texture and pattern by working with textiles. Kay’s floral design training blossomed later, earning her a certificate in Retail Floristry at San Francisco City College, while she concurrently studied Sogetsu Ikebana with Sensei Soho Sakai.

Kay Wolff design and Making Arrangements Floral Design

Making Arrangements Floral Design was formed as an independent floral design business in 1988 when Kay, then Kay Gjeltema, developed this part-time business to allow her to create floral designs for her clients and have time to nurture her young children. In 2007, Kay became Kay Wolff when she married Wendell.

I love what I do. I feel very privileged to be a part of my clients’ lives,

I made the conscious decision to operate outside of the traditional wire service model, and instead, to offer a full complement of custom floral design services.

Locally sourced materials and environmentally sensitive practices are utilized whenever possible. Kay supports the California Grown and the Buy Local movements in the floral industry.
